The Mangosteen

The mangosteen is a fruit native to Southeast Asia and known for its appealing flavor and natural healing attributes.
In countries such as Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore the fruit is cultivated and commonly found in street markets.

The whole fruit is commonly known in that region for its many medicinal uses and is applied topically or taken orally
to treat different ailments.

Comprised of a purple rind and white inner pulp, the small mangosteen fruit grows on trees.
When the fruit is consumed fresh, only the pulp is eaten. The rind, which is very rich in antioxidants and other beneficial
compounds, is often manufactured into dietary supplements.
